“I have always driven my actions into an emblematic state which piloted a personal connection between visual communication and my trauma. This connection then sparked my curiosity in the arts as a space of release and healing. With this ideology in mind, I transformed traumatic experiences into a blossoming state. A state that was planted into the soil of my acceptance. Each piece I created was driven with the symbolism of a flower and the stages of its life. I used this symbolism as an excuse to connect with the viewer through emotional terminologies in hopes to express my personal growth. As time passed, I was able to look beyond the “want” to connect with the other, and finally see the need to connect with myself. I saw a wound that gushed out my fears that then manifested into a facade of my assigned gender as a form of protection but failed to acknowledge the gravity of that manifestation. It took me a long time to tear down the walls of my assigned gender and my dead name to fully see the flowers that grew within my protection. I was only able to see the garden of my struggle when I accepted my femininity through the unspoken story my artistic journey that was told without words. Now looking back, I am able identify the moments that created affirmations for my Trans identity and the motivation to hold that awareness into a biological, societal, and emotional state.”
“My use of flowers as symbolic metaphors in my pieces imply life, death, fragility, gratification and antiquity.” —2016
“Each piece I created dealt with community, fragility, a stage of incomplete, and contrast in hopes to express the disconnect with my identity.“ —2022
